I went to see the premiere of “8 Bit” at the MoMA. It’s a movie about videogame art, starting from the early days of computing and arcade games. I was particularly pleased to see artists such as Bodenstandig 2000, Bubblyfish and Glomag in the film, especially since I’d seen some of them perform recently!

I went to see Matthew Herbert at Irving Plaza, great show. Opening act was Skye, lead singer for Morcheeba.
Herbert is an interesting sampler-based performer, always very original. For Wednesday’s show, he was performing with a jazz ensemble, letting them get up to speed and then seamlessly joining in with his sampler magic.

My last big outdoor party in Japan: Californication, organized by Brainbusters. The venue was amazing: a mountaintop shrine in Chichibu, Saitama. Experienced some magic moments, admiring the illuminated shrine, the teahouse lit by candles, fascinating artwork and a stunning sunrise over the mountains.
